On Wednesday afternoon Room 11 did some planting with the New World seeds. First Mrs Eaton showed us how to plant them. There was a little circle of dried up dirt, we took that and put it in a yoghurt container. Next we added 3-4 tablespoons of water and watched it expand. Sometimes we had to mash up the dirt. Then we put it into the little pot. Once it was nearly fill we put the circle of seeds on. Then we put the rest of the dirt on top. We can’t wait to see how they have grown over the holidays.
So far we have grown: They take ___ days to germinate:Chilli 21 days
Rocket 7 days
Cherry Tomato 7-14 days
Fennel 7-14 days
Cauliflower 5-10 days
Celery 10-14 days
Thyme 12 days
Capsicum 14-21 days
Chives 7 days
Dill 12 days
Mint 7-16 days
So the Cauliflower should
sprout first.
Mrs Eaton is going to take
them home for the holidays and put some photos up on the blog to show how they
are going.

The Rocket seeds were the first to sprout. They only took about a week, the photo on the left shows when they first stared to sprout. Then the second photo is on Day 11.
Also on Day 11 the Thyme and Fennel seeds have started to sprout.
I have had a friend collecting some of the Little Gardens for us as well, so we will all have one each to grow when we get back to school.
