ART WORKSHOP Pictures

Picture and story both by Chrissea

Mr Shasky taught us how to draw a tower from the Science Alive building and it was hard to draw at the start, but then I got used to it and it was easy.  The fun bit was shading in the dark bit and the lines were really hard to get straight.  The cool bit was making  the lines.  The hardest part was making the windows.

DRAWING WORKSHOP

Today we were lucky to go the Graham Braddock drawing workshop.  We all listened carefully to the artist Mr Shasky and came up with some brilliant drawings.

Measuring Trees

Mrs Mattingley comes in each week and takes a reading group for us.  This week they have been reading about trees.  In one of the stories they found out how to measure out how high a tree is.  Here is Cecillia's story:

Edelma, Teagan, Te Whetu and I went to measure the tree.  We measured the tree with a meter ruler.  We had to hold the ruler in front of us and walk backwards until the bottom of the stump is the same as the ruler.  One person had to stand beside the tree and walk sideways until that person is parallel with the end of the ruler.  I got to have a turn first.  My partner had to stand beside the tree, that my Teegan.

SWIMMING

We have had some awesome swimming weather!  We even swam in the rain the other day.  Some of us found it cold, while others loved it!  Keep an eye out for more photos each week.

Swimming in the Rain!
On Monday we had Mrs O'Neil.  We got to go swimming in the rain.  We got to run to the pool, then we had  to get our swimming togs and go in the pool, but then we all promised that we would practice and then we got to do free swim.  Lexus and I practised freestyle when it was free swim.  It was so much fun in the pool.  I love going swimming because I like how it makes you feel like you're flying.
